pRIMARY Delusion

We flexed purple contusions
Aligning mattresses
Sequenced to resemble teeth.

Gender-roles complicated the action
As maids entered and proceeded
To smooth out the creases in the sheets.

I considered our creation symbiotic
But the task in context
Was parasitic.

A movable smile
That bit corners
Like a vampire’s fangs
Lurching down the edges
Of their lips.

We tumbled across the mattresses
In response
The maids continued leveling wrinkles
As if it was hardwired
Into their genomes.
